United States Air Force Pharmacy SIGs Forum Index -> Resting Place of Old Threads -> Expiration Dates for Multi use vials/bottles/etc    View previous topic :: View next topic  Expiration Dates for Multi use vials/bottles/etc Posted: Tue Dec 14, 2004 11:57 am Nora Monnett Captain   Joined: 31 Aug 2004 Posts: 2 Location: Eglin AFB, FL Eglin is having discussions on what is the current standard for multi use vials/bottles/etc. USP states that once opened it expires in 28 days, unless otherwise stated by the manufacture. Is it good practice to have two standards? Can we be sure that staff members know when it is stated by the manufacture? Can we be sure that the vial is still sterile after 100 uses, for example? If anyone could give guidance I would appreciate it. Thank you.
