We know all to well the growing pains of new automation. Increased waiting times, technical issues, inadequate training....etc. One lesson I learned from my own experience is that you can't make the automation conform to you current process. You have to modify your process to fit the automation. Here are just a few ideas:
- Prioritize/Organize your workload.
- Utilize Pre-packs. Pre-pack your high use maintenance drugs and block the quantities in your PHARMassist. i.e. Premarin .625 #90
- Have a sound maintenance schedule in place.
- Consider augmenting you current system with robotics

At McChord we are constantly challenging ourselves to improve our process. We continually monitor our efficiancy and welcome change. If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact me.
