BOMO FAQs
[ Return to BOMO Main Page ]
How do I get orders to BOMO? As soon as the names of all the students for a particular class are compiled, the list is sent to Randolph AFB. The information is then sent to each MAJCOM where it trickles down to the bases. A rip is generated from the formal education and training office. This rip authorizes the officer to come to the course. Once the officer receives the rip he or she should begin the process to go TDY according to local policy. Do I make my own airline reservations? Yes. You need to make reservations as soon as you know you are coming to BOMO. Just like all TDYs you do not have to have orders in hand to make an airline reservation. Once you do have orders you can then go to your base ticket office and pay for your ticket with a government credit card. Remember, you need to make sure you are flying to/from Wichita Falls, TX and not Wichita, KS. Do I make my own billeting reservations? No. The BOMO Course Supervisor (CS) will make your billeting reservations. Your orders may tell you to call Sheppard Inn, but you do not need to do this. What is the daily schedule? Classes start daily at 0730 and conclude at 1630. Lunch is from 1130 - 1230. There is a 10 minute break every 50 minutes. All of these times are subject to change if special circumstances dictate. Does my unit pay for this BOMO TDY? No. The course is paid for through local funds. Are rental cars authorized and paid for by the course? No. Student are billeted on base. There is a bus scheduled to transport students to and from billeting to the building where BOMO is conducted. There are a few eating establishments on base and several restaurants right outside the main gate within a safe walking distance.
Typically there
are several students who drive to Sheppard. These students are
usually willing to give rides off base when needed. If you can
get your local unit to pay for a rental car then that is
acceptable.
