The Biomedical Officer Management Orientation (BOMO) course provides needed basic executive-management training to the Air Force Biomedical Science Corp’s (BSC) pharmacists, medical laboratory officers and nutritional medicine dietitians.  The 15-day in-resident course, which began in 1984, accepts officers in these BSC-specialties having 6 months to 2 years of on-station experience.  BOMO provides useful tools for the young BSC officer facilitating their focus on such management issues as enlisted evaluations, technician career progression, effective personnel utilization, resource management, awards and decorations, officer career management, decision making, Tricare, primary care optimization, medical logistics, civilian personnel training and management, and optimizing systems effectiveness.  Also, BOMO attendees are provided specialty updates by their respective specialty consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General.  Lastly, BOMO students are provided excellent one-on-one mentoring inter-corps networking to further help them to succeed as Air Force officers.  This course is accredited to provide up the 16 hours of professional continuing medical education (CME) for each of the specialties.
