


The
Biomedical Officer Management Orientation (BOMO) course
provides needed basic executive-management training to the Air
Force Biomedical Science Corp’s (BSC)
pharmacists, medical laboratory officers and nutritional
medicine dietitians. The 15-day in-resident course,
which began in 1984, accepts officers in these BSC-specialties
having 6 months to 2 years of on-station experience. BOMO
provides useful tools for the young BSC officer facilitating
their focus on such management issues as enlisted evaluations,
technician career progression, effective personnel utilization,
resource management, awards and decorations, officer career
management, decision making, Tricare, primary care optimization,
medical logistics, civilian personnel training and management,
and optimizing systems effectiveness. Also, BOMO attendees are
provided specialty updates by their respective specialty
consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General. Lastly, BOMO
students are provided excellent one-on-one mentoring inter-corps
networking to further help them to succeed as Air Force
officers. This course is accredited to provide up the 16 hours
of professional continuing medical education (CME) for each of
the specialties.
